The VoiceMap GPS Audio Guide for Ronda

Recently, I was asked to create the VoiceMap GPS Audio Guide for Ronda.

For quite a few years now, the A4 printable guide has been selling steadily directly from Ronda Today and I have received many hundreds of emails from visitors, who have discovered the very best of a visit to Ronda, using the indepth information made up from the top 20 articles published here at Ronda Today.

But what better way to improve the guide? An audio guide of course!

The VoiceMap GPS Audio Guide for Ronda

Listening to me along the way (and also some captivating guitar music from the amazing Paco Seco), you’ll pass breathtaking lookout points including the Mirador de Ronda and the Mirador de Aldehuela.

As we leave the new town behind us and enter the old, past the Mondragón Palace and museum we’ll visit Ronda’s former defensive border at the Puerta de Almocábar, and quake in the boots of history’s soldiers as you imagine approaching armies.

From there we’ll follow the old walls to the Arab Baths and the Puente Viejo bridge, before making our way back over Puente Nuevo. The tour ends in front of the Plaza de Toros, the Bullring of the Royal Cavalry of Ronda.

I’ll also provide answers to some intriguing questions like:

• What did Blas infante, the father of Spanish nationalism, do in Ronda?
• Why is one particular Italian priest famous around here?
• Who built the Puente Nuevo?
• Did Queen Isabella really visit Ronda?
• When did the Christian conquerors arrive?
• How important is bullfighting in Andalucia?

Creating the VoiceMap GPS Audio Guide for Ronda from the content here at Ronda Today has been a real pleasure and I hope that you enjoy walking the tour as much I did making it.

A bit about VoiceMap

VoiceMap’s walking tour app gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace. You can start the walks at any time and stop whenever and wherever you like, for as long as you like. You don’t even need to hit pause. The app uses your GPS location to play audio automatically, at exactly the right time and place, and when you start moving again, playback will too. It also gives you directions, making it much easier to put your phone away and immerse yourself in your surroundings, not the screen.

You can download audio tours with a single tap before you leave your WiFi zone. They come with offline maps, and you don’t have to pay for data while you’re out exploring.

The Guitar House in Ronda

Ronda Guitar House 2015 to 2020

Ronda Guitar House was a venue located in the centre of Ronda, Malaga, Spain. Ronda Guitar House opened its doors in 2015 with the following mission: “Providing a truly authentic environment dedicated to quality music in the city of Ronda.”

Locals and visitors of the city could enjoy daily Spanish guitar concerts and a selection of fine local Ronda wine. There was also a collection of hand-made guitars and world instruments on permanent display. Many of the instruments were for sale in the specialist shop, together with their accompanying accessories.

Celia Morales, a truly talented Flamenco guitarist in Ronda

No trip to Ronda would be complete without hearing at least a small amount of Flamenco guitar. But to visit one of Celias concerts is an absolute treat. She is one of the most talented flamenco guitarist I have ever heard and she can be seen playing at Calle Calvo Asensio, 8. (RONDA) at 6pm and 7.30pm most nights. The concerts last for 1 hour.

At 15 euros per person, the entrance fee is amazingly cheap to see this wonderful composer and musician. You can go to her website and hear some of her work as the music starts to load as you open the home page. Check out the below video to see here in action. Truly talented.

Lucho and Leticia Perform in Ronda

Whilst you are walking from the new bridge towards the bullring past the parador with the gorge on your left you will most probably hear the beautiful soft melodies of Lucho and Leticia on the breeze.

Lucho, who is originally from South America, gives a wonderful solo on pan flute, and singing, and is a good partner to Leticia’s voice and harp with his flutes, guitars, and authentic Andean instruments for creating the sound of waves or insects creaking.

Leticia on the other hand plays harp, sings, and whistles, the whistle being quite amazing, at times sounding exactly like Amazonian birds. Her voice is clear, and carries far across the terraces.

Stay for a while, listen and soak up the atmosphere.

You can find more of their music on youtube.
