The parador in Ronda - About Ronda Today

Hotel Parador, Ronda ****

The Parador de Ronda is the most popular hotel and most reserved by Ronda Today website visitors. (Check out prices and reviews over at Tripadvisor). This is not just because it offers the same exceptional service as other Parador hotels, but because it is so centrally located, offering everything the experienced traveller demands.

Its location immediately adjacent to the Tajo gorge and Ronda’s iconic Puente Nuevo, is the reason this hotel is often fully booked. On the edge of the gorge, there are only a handful of hotels, and the Parador has the best vantage point. All guests of the hotel are able to enjoy drinks on the terrace patio, which is especially nice at sunset.

The Parador de Ronda is also the only hotel in the central city with a swimming pool, making it the envy of other hoteliers. Add in the restaurant serving a menu of Ronda fresh products, all prepared in a neo-traditional style, and visitors to Ronda are ensured the perfect holiday stay.

The building was extensively renovated prior to conversion into a Parador Hotel, having originally been the town hall in Ronda built in 1761, though reforms completely modernised the interior such that international travellers feel at ease.

Exclusive Ronda Hotel

All rooms are equipped with satellite TV, comfortable bathrooms including a full selection of soaps and complimentaries, Wi-Fi Internet, and are all air-conditioned and heated. There are sixty-five twin bed rooms, ten double bed rooms, a luxury suite, and eight split level duplex rooms.

If a specific room is desired, or a particuar view, please make sure you communicate with the hotel by email or phone beforehand. As you’d expect the best rooms are limited. All staff speak some English, with French and German spoken too.

Please note that standard rooms have views of the park or of the swimming pool. The park behind the Parador leads to the Paseo de los Ingleses, which includes the Bullring and the Balcon de Coño. Superior rooms have views of the Tajo Gorge, or the Ronda mountains. Duplex suites are differentiated by size, being two story accommodation, and do not indicate better views.

The Parador restaurant menu offers local flavours made from local produce, as well as Andalusian tastes, and chef takes care to include seasonal specialties when available, for example chestnuts or mushrooms from the Genal Valley, or cheeses and meats from around Ronda. Gluten free can also be prepared for guests requesting this.

At sunset, enjoy refreshments on one of two public terraces at the Parador, the first overlooks the Puente Nuevo and is reached via the bar adjacent to reception, the second overlooks the valley below Ronda and is situated behind the main dining area.

Private parking spaces are available under the hotel, with Friends of the Parador (club membership) parking free. Drive time to other centres from Ronda’s Parador Hotel is just 90 minutes to the airport in Malaga, 60 minutes to Marbella, or 90 minutes to Sevilla. 1. The Paradro Hotel is fantastic on the edge of the cliff and from our balcon we could see the valley under Ronda. Our room was nice and very comfortable with toilet and a bath with shower, a large bed which is good for tall people, a tv, and the balcony had some small chairs and a table so we could enjoy the sunset. The breakfast in the hotel was excellent, and the staff at the front desk very knowledgeable about what to do in the city.

  2. My husband and I stayed at the Parador in April 2010, this was the second time we stayed there, the first time was over 10 years ago! This time we had a corner room with two balconies looking over the gorge and to the gazebo and bullring. We had dinner in the restaurant one night, it was raining and we didn’t feel like going out, but the staff in the restaurant really made it worth while and the cuisine was fantastic. If I remember correctly we had stewed bull tail, partridge, and roast kid. Our only complaint was the price of the parking, 20 euros per day, but we could have parked in the street if that had been a major problem. Overall I recommend the Parador and will be staying there again on our next visit.
